Yesterday, on Simplified Whole30: Day 15**

Breakfast

Eggs, eggs, eggs. Actually, I enjoy eggs for breakfast and have had them for at least 3 years almost every day, so breakfast is not too bad.

Lunch

Salad with leftover chicken, bell peppers, and pear.

Dinner

We had “deconstructed” fajitas: chicken strips and bell peppers and onions sautèed, with avocado slices on top. I served green beans on the side.

Day 16 Status Update

Today I was within a hair’s breadth of quitting. This diet is a lot of work, and very ascetic. For this amount of effort, I would expect big payoff. I have had no big payoffs.

In a way, that might be good news. Perhaps the fact that I don’t feel dramatically better on this diet proves that I was eating just fine before (not counting Christmas festivities). Perhaps the fact that I just feel like plain me, but more deprived, now that we’re passed the halfway mark means that I can tolerate the occasional bread slice and the dairy fat I so sorely miss.

It is not milk I miss. I miss cream in my coffee. I miss sour cream. I miss cheese. I pine for butter.

    I’m of the opinion that everything in moderation is a good thing! (Aside from allergies and food intolerances). Your food looks delicious, though!

    Moderation as a philosophy has never appealed to me more than it does while on Whole30! :)

    I’m thinking I might be able to use this experience as a goad to stay in moderation and not go overboard: “If I overdo this treat, then I’ll have to undo the resulting sugar addiction with a Whole30,” and suddenly the sugar will not be as appealing. Right? :)

    I started the whole30 at the same time. I agree with you! I’m bored of the food and I want cream in my coffee!!!! I haven’t noticed extreme differences besides I’m feeling a little more energy and Ive lost 5 lbs (which is great!!). The biggest thing that has changed for me is my attitude. The fact that in the face of temption I can refuse German chocolate cake, doughnuts, chocolate..that is HUGE! I’m more than just a little addicted to sugar. :) that is what is making me feel good not anything physical.
