Description

Is something missing in your daily life at home?

Is it rest? Is it self-care? Is it daily devotions?

Sometimes we aren’t even sure, so we try adding all the things to try to feel like a reasonable human being again.

That never works, but we aren’t sure if the problem is with what we tried, with trying to do it all at once, or with our own selves.

You know what you need to do. The problem is doing it consistently.

You need to pray every morning, but you forget.

You need to move more, but coffee and couch-crashing appeals more.

You want to create and learn, but there’s no time.

You need to show your kids love and affection, even in the midst of hassle and frazzle.

So it’s no wonder we look at the list, give up and go back to bed instead.

Did you know there’s a fundamental habit you’re missing? One that makes these other necessary habits not only easier, but actually possible?

It’s the habit of follow-through.

If you find yourself
  • starting the day groggy
  • ending the day discouraged
  • needing to recharge and not knowing how
  • zoning out on your phone as a “break”
  • beginning a new eating plan instead of sticking to anything
  • unmotivated to exercise, eat right, or read

Then you need accountability and baby steps to learn the habit of follow-through as you practice the good habits you want and replace the habit habits you have.

I am so grateful for Humble Habits! It set me on the path of consistency in personal exercise and now I’m running regularly. Simple, easy steps helped me build the habits I could expand on later. Heather Tully

homeschooling mom of 10

All our problems with doing the right thing so we can be renewed and serve our families well come down to bad habits that need breaking and new habits that need building.

Motivation is strong with the new year, but how long does motivation last? It rarely lasts through the whole day – sometimes not even through the morning.

Willpower is a limited resource, and every time we start anything – breakfast, school – even a shower! – takes a bite out of our willpower reserves.

Yet, there’s a way to beat these limitations: Habit.

Hi, I'm Mystie Winckler.

Hi, I'm Mystie Winckler.

I homeschool my five kids, including two teens on down to a kindergartener. I keep a lot of project plates spinning and I love that my husband works from home. Come 2pm, it always seems easier to crash on the couch than exercise, read, or do the next thing on my to-do list.

It’s not that crashing on the couch is wrong, but if we need rest, why not actually nap? Too often when we need rest we choose the path of least resistance and get only psuedo-rest that does not leave us refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day. Or, if you’re like me, to turn to another cup of coffee and just crash harder a couple hours later.

After reading numerous books on habit change and personal growth, I realized I had the habit of self-indulgence rather than self-control. I had the habit of giving up when I needed the habit of follow-through. And it turns out that habits can work synergistically and be built faster by starting tiny.

Want to start the year with better habits?

Our temptation is to try to wake up Monday morning as a whole new person with a brand new lifestyle.

Successful habits – and therefore, lifestyles – are not built that way.

They are built incrementally, one small change after another.

No more crash and burn.

Humble Habits is a 6-week live accountability program for moms who want step-by-step, steady personal growth.

Tiny habits are like seeds we plant to foster growth.

Follow-through is the underlying habit we’re building every step of the way.

Devotions, rest, self-care, scholé – whatever it is you think you need more of to feel more alive, you’ll find it in these 5 tiny seed habits planted during Humble Habits.

What I loved about Humble Habits (and Mystie herself) is the authenticity, the realistic steps, the brain exercise, and the time, thought, and research behind the plan and recommendations. If you are continually beating yourself up, come here for encouragement and a place to begin anew. It’s like commiserating with a friend, but one who’s not content to leave you where you are.  Erin Zook

To go far, start with small wins. Be the tortoise.

Humble Habits will lead the way.

Humble Habits is a 6-week live program delivered by email, helping you build the habits you need for health, happiness, and a humming home. Sound grandiose and unrealistic? That’s because we’re too used to jumping to big change, when it’s the little things, done consistently, that give us the biggest payoff. It’s the linchpin habits that make further growth and change possible.

Humble Habits will guide you through building these five key habits:

  • prayer to feed your soul
  • movement to fuel your body
  • reading to fill your mind
  • self-talk to focus your attitude
  • smiling to fortify your relationships

Each of these habits start with a small seed, planted and watered before growth and fruit can be expected.  Humble Habits will help you start small with a weekly checklist that outlines

  • the baby step – habit seed – to take first
  • the brain dump to uncover your resistance and motivation
  • the personal plan forward after the baby step habit seed has been planted

But more than this checklist or the twice-weekly motivational emails, Humble Habits will help you overcome resistance and stagnation through accountability and smart, small habit-seeds.

  • daily motivation texts (or emails)
  • check-in polls
  • weekly troubleshooting chats

My promise: If you don’t see traction and growth in your own life (as defined by you, not me!) by the end of the six-week program, let me know and I will refund the entire cost of the class.

Humble Habits resulted in lasting change for me. Mystie helped me understand how habits are formed. I had no idea that cues and rewards were so important, but they really work! And it’s not “extra work on top of all the stuff.” Humble Habits helped me work into my everyday routines things for which I’d been longing: more prayer, more reading, moving more. And the mindset change was so helpful for me (an all-or-nothing kind of personality). I’m thankful to the Lord for Mystie’s teaching and leading. It’s made a difference for me. Sara Drew

If you’re like me, you’ve tried new year resolutions, new planners, and even online courses before and they haven’t worked.

Don’t give up on personal growth.

Habits aren’t impossible; they’re just hard.

However, they’re worth the time and effort. Start smaller to see success.

Enroll in Humble Habits with likeminded women and build the baby steps that lead to self-control, stress-management, and relationship-building. Humble Habits is a live accountability program, not a lifetime-access course.

However, because I know life never stops for moms and we can’t control our time and other priorities often must win out, all participants will receive full access to the program materials for 2 months after the program is over.

My promise: If you don’t see traction and growth in your own life (as defined by you, not me!) by the end of the six-week program, let me know and I will refund the entire cost of the class.

no surface solutions or quick fixes here – you get meaty, workable answers that fit real life at home

real support

stop trying to go it alone and get the backup and step-by-step help you need

Here’s the plan:

Every Saturday morning for six weeks, starting on January 5, you get an email with a link to the next lesson, a checklist for the coming week, and a poll for the previous week.

Every Monday, you get an email with a link to part 2 of the lesson and a motivating thought to keep you going.

Every Wednesday, you’ll get a link to a montage of clips from past Humble Habits troubleshooting to help you stay on track and make the most of the habit.

Every weekday morning you can get a habit-promoting quote texted or emailed.

Every Friday morning we’ll do a live troubleshooting chat (replays available).

Access is simple, progress is tracked, and accountability is motivating.

For less than the price of a coffee each week, Humble Habits will help you break through your barriers by showing you how to start smaller, not bigger. And I promise a better productivity high after a week of this program than the caffeine will give you. If not, I’ll give you your money back (something you can’t get if the coffee doesn’t kick you into gear).

We all want the shortcut, the massive overhaul that just happens like the flip of a switch, but that’s not how habits work and that’s not how growth – of any kind – happens. Our pride makes us bite off more than we can chew, but it then gives us a stomach ache.

Start humbly, with the habit hacks that research has proven, freshly applied specifically and pointedly to life at home with kids.

Humble Habits is like “Improve Your Life for Dumbies.” So simple and yet so very effective – it’s hard not to take away at least one permanent, life-changing habit.

I am thankful to God for His lovingkindness and patience as I have struggled with good habits and discipline. This Humble Habits course has been one of the means He has used to grow greater faithfulness in my life. This course has helped me cultivate my relationship with the Lord and my relationship with others. It hasn’t happened overnight, but seeds have been sown and are now being watered! Thank you, Mystie for your humble comraderie and encouragement! God has used you to bless me and in turn the other people in my life, including the stranger (the smile habit ?) at the grocery store. This course can be a blessing to anyone willing! Join us!

I greatly appreciated the Humble Habits study! It set in motion some steps toward habits I want to achieve and a slow and steady process to get there.
Consistency is certainly key and I definitely needed the accountability and encouragement to work on these small steps to building those habits. I’m still working on them and hope to continue and build more as the years go on!
I’m looking forward to starting some more small steps with my kids, so that they can hopefully create some habits of their own as well. Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to press toward the goal and not only for myself, but for my family as well!

My eyes are opened to process and my new perspective feels hopeful instead of heavy. I got to a place that having a new idea felt discouraging and heavy because I knew I wouldn’t follow through. The problem wasn’t me, it was wrong thinking. So grateful for the freedom this course has blessed me with.

I am grateful for Humble Habits because it helped me establish a badly needed sleep routine I seemed incapable of making for myself before. The simple approach to habits helps you not get overwhelmed and quit. I especially appreciated the live video accountability once a week.

This was the best use of my time last January and February. The habits have stuck for the most part, though they look different now. More importantly, we were encouraged to not despise small beginnings—I do need to start at this minuscule level that will make no appreciable difference for quite awhile because I actually am not better than that. I am a frail human in need of a mighty God, and this course was a good reminder of that reality.

Humble Habits changed my life for the better. It has been 8 months since I first went through the program, and I smile more now than before. It has changed the atmosphere in our home.

Mystie is wonderful! Her classes are wonderful and have helped transform my life into being a little bit more organized every time :) Humble Habit takes you back to the basics that are easy to forget when life gets crazy! We all need reminders to put self discipline back into action for the good of ourselves and those around us! Grateful for this class and many of her others!

I loved this ecourse, because I felt like it was designed for me- helping me grow and cultivate the habits I’ve always dreamed of. I know I’m not alone. ? “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape…” If you feel like you’re the only one trying to wrestle your inner-two-year-old into submission, you’re not. If you feel hopeless, this course may be God’s “way of escape” for you, dear sister; it was for me. ?

And the mindset change was so helpful for me (an all-or-nothing kind of personality). Example: Instead of thinking, “Well! I don’t have an hour or two of uninterrupted time to read (and that book seems too hard anyway, if I’m being honest), so I’m just not going to do it!”, Mystie taught me to set a doable goal: 3 minutes of reading. I can read anything for 3 minutes (hard or not), and I can find 3 minutes of quiet! Lo and behold, I’ve worked through several books that had hitherto sat on the shelf. I’m thankful to the Lord for Mystie’s teaching and leading. It’s made a difference for me.
