Managing a busy, happy, growing family is a lot of work.

But you can handle it.

Tips and tricks to get organized may help you get things under control for a time, but lasting change comes after you change the stories you tell yourself.

If you are

  • discouraged that organization attempts never seem to stick,
  • frustrated when your work is so quickly undone,
  • burnt out on normal life,
  • tired at the never-ending parade of menial tasks,

know you are not alone.

A new perspective will enable you to keep our equilibrium & sanity.

Too often, when we try to get organized, we

  • go whole-hog and burn out.
  • focus on surface problems and don’t address the root of our trouble.
  • think buying new containers and labels will permanently solve our situation.
  • spend more time fiddling with a planner than actually doing what needs to be done.
  • freak out when our kids undo our work and mess up our plans.
Our problem is that we focus on appearances and circumstances rather than our own attitudes and approaches.

Organization is about mindset & preparation,

not the state of the closets.

Your closets might be a mess, your storage room might be out of control, your car dashboard might be sticky, but you might still be organized even in the midst of it.

Being organized isn’t about looking put together. It’s about handling what life throws at you calmly, coolly, and collectedly.

I have been in a homemaking slump the last month or so, feeling overwhelmed and hopelessly behind -- listening to your Simplified Organization modules and rereading some posts was just the cheery kick in the pants I need to get up and going again.

One of my biggest hurdles has been setting up the best tools so that they will work for me and yours is the only thing I have ever found that provides that step-by-step information that easily fits my lifestyle. While most advice and systems work well for either working full-time or managing the home, I have had trouble merging the two together to fit our family, but yours has done that nearly seamlessly.

I have tried a lot of different planning programs, and I always get tripped up on long-term planning. Trying to plan my life now in terms of what I imagine things will be like then makes little sense and feels very overwhelming. I am really loving the freedom of focusing on where I am now and what my responsibilities are now, trusting that if I am faithful in this, God will bring new opportunities into my life when the time is right.

    Frequently Asked Questions

I have a 30-day money-back guarantee, so if you start into the course and it doesn't resonate with you or you find out it wasn't what you were expecting or wasn't what you needed, I'll refund your purchase within 24 hours. Just ask.
Absolutely. To have an organized attitude, you need to align it with Truth.
Not exclusively. It's about managing life at home. A few examples include mentions of homeschooling, because I homeschool, but the material is not specifically designed for homeschoolers. It is for women who keep life running, who have many people depending on them, who have a lot of plates to spin. That includes homeschoolers, but it includes many more besides.
Your problem with consistency might be a problem with the plans you've tried in the past rather than with you. If the plan you tried was designed by a different personality type, it might only work for that type and not yours. The principles and practices taught in Work the Plan transcend personalities and situations; they can be fitted to you - you don't have to change to fit them. Also, if working through the material is too much of a burden and you can't make use of it, you can request a full refund within 30 days. All requests for refunds within 30 days will be honored, no questions asked.
Simplified Organization: Learning to Love What Must Be Done is a self-paced course, so you can power through it in a week or two or take your time. With six modules, really working through the materials and applying them will take at least six weeks, but many members spend 6-12 months building the habits and systems into their lives. Some women work through the whole course quickly the first time around, then return to the beginning and slowly improve each piece of their new rhythms. The member forums are a great place to get accountability as you work through the material, no matter how fast or how slow you choose to go. Your membership never expires.
Yes! If you can browse a blog, you can take this course. The material is not on some fancy learning software, but set up like a blog, except with super-clear navigation - navigation you can mark as complete as you move through so you never lose your place. It's not complicated, and you can always contact me directly by email or in the forum if you encounter difficulties.
Simplified Organization: Learning to Love What Must Be Done is a deep and thorough course all about fixing things from the inside out. It's encouraging and basic. It's written for women who are discouraged in their homemaking, feel like they barely keep their heads above water, and don't know where to start. It's for busy women who need to keep life running, but feel like they're pulled in a million directions. It will help you figure out what the right next thing to do is, each day.Work the Plan is all about making your plan practical, realistic, and applicable. It assumes you know what you should be doing; Simplified Organization: Learning to Love What Must Be Done walks you through figuring that out from scratch. If you know you could be more effective and are unsatisfied with your level of productivity, Work the Plan will show you how to get the traction you need. They do work together, and Work the Plan would be a good final module to go through after Simplified Organization: Learning to Love What Must Be Done.In fact, you can buy both together for a bundle package here.
Then no one else's list will cure that. The best way to overcome habits of laziness is to slowly and steadily build habits of proper planning and executing, which is what Work the Plan is all about. You won't - and can't - experience overnight change, but you can know for sure that you have found the path forward to gradually exchanging poor habits for productive habits. However, most of the women who call themselves lazy are actually prisoners of their own false expectations. Work the Plan also addresses our expectations and teaches how to manage them and keep them lined up with our present reality.
The Tools sections within the course are all about applying GTD to our life as homemakers and mothers, but that's only 1/6 of the course. About 1/2 of the course is more mindset than tactics, but the tactics are based on GTD.

I’ve been a follower of Mystie’s blog and a member of her courses for almost two years now, and through all the ups and downs and changes in our family routine, I keep coming back to the basic truths and principles she shares so clearly and encouragingly.

As an oldest daughter, home educated by a mom who loved homemaking and read books on organization and time management (and then organized everything and designed her own planners) as a hobby, I thought I had it all figured out years before I got married and had children. Then came marriage, a home of my own (and only me to keep the whole place clean and make meals and do laundry besides), and four children in four years. I was floundering when I found Mystie’s course, wondering how on earth to manage and even more, why bother trying? Wouldn’t it be better to give up and just plaster the poem that ends “dust go to sleep, I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep” in every room of the house as a cute excuse? No, because God has blessed me with this home and these people to lovingly care for, and with His strength and the right attitude and perspective, it can be done.

If you’re needing encouragement, wondering what to prioritize and how to have realistic expectations, this course is for you. And consider this: professionals in almost every line of work are required to educate themselves, attending trainings and lectures to brush up their skills and be re-inspired in the importance of their field. As a homemaker, you have the keeping of eternal souls in your hands – it’s worth the cost of this course several times over to be inspired and helped over the inevitable bumps and rough spots that arise!

I was suprised at how helpful it was to have in my head the charge to change a complaining thought to an attitude of gratitude. It helped stop an argument with my husband before it began. It helped when PMS reared its head. It helped when I had agreed to help someone and then didn’t really feel like it when the time came. Thank you!

I just wanted to thank you for all your solid work and deep sweet honesty in putting together the simplified organization course. Your ideas are so thorough and practical, but I’ve never before worked through something like this that led to worship of God. Your way of addressing the deepest, most critical needs is beautiful. I am a mom of 3, 4 and under, living as an expat in the Philippines. I love where we are and what we do, most of the time anyway. but this course has been a lifeline. Thank you for not skirting the most important areas in order to make this more accessible to all. You are mentoring me on the other side of the world, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

One of my biggest hurdles is trying to figure out how to “best” set up the tools so that they’ll work for me and this is the only book/blog/documentation I’ve ever found that provides that step-by-step information and easily fits my lifestyle. While most advice and systems work well for either working full-time or managing the home and I’ve had trouble merging the two together to fit our family, yours has done that nearly seamlessly. Thank you so much for the work that you do!
