Convivial Chronicles

Life continued mostly as usual before the baby was born, with our annual trip to the pumpkin patch:

But then we brought home a new baby and were all very pleased with her.

She sometimes seems less than pleased with us, though.

However, we are all muddling along together, this week with the daily help from my mom, Nana.

We went out with her on Tuesday. This is my first postpartum attempt at an outfit other than sweatpants. And possibly the first time I’ve allowed a postpartum picture of myself go public.

But I’m wearing abdominal support, so that’s actually a slightly slimmed version of myself. Sigh. Before my c-section, they pumped me so full of fluid that my feet looked like they were going to burst. Over the weekend I dropped 15 pounds in 3 days, and my feet now look loads better – but even so, not all the swelling is gone yet. My helpful little weight tracker app tells me that if I kept up the weight loss average of that week that I’ll have reached my target weight by Thanksgiving. Please don’t do the math.

I have found that if I need all four children occupied for a bit, all I have to do is give one of them my iPod Touch (after turning wifi off).

Ilse got to watch some videos through Netflix while she was down with a fever, and Knox got in on the special treatment.

But now she’s recovered and I’m feeling more and more in recovery myself.

Having a new little one and having been away from the bigger ones for a few days reminds me of their individuality and developing personalities. I so look forward to seeing who this adorable little girl turns out to be.

I think you’re doing great. Don’t worry about the weight, you’ve got 5 little ones to chase down so it will fall off. You’re a beautiful mom with a beautiful family! Just relax and allow your body to heal.

What a darling little girl! (That picture got an Awww-out-loud from me!)

You look beautiful, and seem impressively put-together for a mom of a newborn and four more (one who was sick)… I mean, you’re blogging! Make sure you get some good rest!

Thanks for commenting, Rosie! Browsing through all those link ups must be both fun and a lot of work. :)

Stamina certainly slowly develops as it’s required with each addition. :) But I am trying to keep myself to a slow pace until my recovery period is over.
